Note: This isn't a real army, but a story. A "real" number of troops fighting is ten times the huge setting, unless i say otherwise, as now, when the battle begun, the french force had losed many soldiers, so it's only seven times. It was ten times at the start of the campaign.

When the Italy was conquered, Francis I, the King of France, the Duke of Milan, the Doge of Venice, the Holy Roman Emperor, the King of Denmark, the Protector and Landsholder of the Papal states, the Half-King of Sicily, was holding a great power. His forces were nearly unmatched, except from one person: the Byzantine emperor. He holded only a little lesser power than Justininan I, and his mane was Manuel II(not a reflection to a historical person). His reformed and professional armed force was fierce, and had won him many victories. But now he was old, and also ill. He was dying, and so, he gave his power to his only living son, and also youngest of his three sons, whose name was John. He was 27-years old, but was liked by the army, because he had commanded armed forces for 11 years, first by neccessity, since city he was being was attacked by turkish rebels. With only his cavalry bodyguards and some militia, he managed to defeat the turks, and the drove them of from that place. Now he was in Egypt, but when his father died, France attacked. Before even knowing that he would die in that day. When John received a message, he immediately left the Egypt, and took the best, the Emperor's army, with him, whitch was perfectly equipped and armoured, and was very experienced. It's infantry was the varangian guard, but who were now largely byzantine, because many were really byzantine, and even others were only partly vikings, and Byzantine infantry, who were called Latinkons due their "latin" armour(real latinkons were european knights who were in service of the byzantine empire). There were also experienced bodyguard archers, and trebizondian ones. Cavalry was composition of Latin-way equipped cavalry, deadly cataphracts, and some bit lighter cavalry. That force landed on Thessalonice, who had been under siege by the french, but the siege was lifted, because their army was starving, and couldn't broke the walls. John took his army, and followed the french army. With a strategical manouvering, he stopped the french army, and forced them to fight a field battle. He easily won it, the tired and battered frenchmen coulsn't opposite his experienced and equipped army. His cavalry broke trought theirs, and flanked the french infantry, who immediately routed. The byzantines pursued, and killed and took prisoners many french soldiers. Now the france couldn't expand for a while, it would need to stabilise it's lands and others, but, after that...
