 While a smith may spend most of his time mending tools, an Armourer is a specialist. Going beyond the normal skills of civilian metalwork he has the talent to create chainmail, for example. This is a labour-intensive business, as each ring needs to be individually linked to its neighbours - many hundreds of rings in even simple chain shirt!
