 As an Islamic settlement grows in size, the need to build a Masjid capable of housing larger congregations also grows enough to make it a mandatory construction. Literally translating to mean “Place of prostration”, the lack of chairs makes a Masjid appear relatively Spartan compared to a Christian church, but their absence fills its chambers with a profound sense of spiritual calm.
